Fire at Loudoun Co. golf course after building holding dozens of carts catches fire

Damages to the structure and golf carts are estimated at $700,000.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — A golf course in Loudoun County had multiple firefighter units respond after a building holding dozens of golf carts caught on fire Thursday around 12:30 p.m.

The fire at the 1757 Golf Club destroyed the carts and equipment being held inside the large storage building.

No one was hurt during the blaze that required firefighters to use a higher caliber hose stream because of how large the fire was when arriving at the course.

The course's "Pro Shop" was not harmed in the fire because it was a safe distance away from the storage building.

Hazardous material units also responded to the fire, officials said.

Fire officials said the cause of the fire was accidental. They said the fire resulted from a malfunction in a golf cart or part of the golf cart charging unit. Damages are estimated at $700,000.
