A 35-year-old woman is dead after a fire at a hotel in Fairfax Thursday morning.

A 35-year-old woman is dead after a fire at a hotel in Fairfax Thursday morning.

The fire broke out around 7:30 a.m. in the 9800 block of Fairfax Blvd. at the Lee High Hotel, according to Fairfax City Fire.

When crews got to the scene they found heavy smoke coming from the room of origin. They also found Megan Shuman, from Sterling, Va. dead inside of the hotel room where the fire started.

The call came from hotel management, authorities added.

Fairfax City Fire said that the hotel was evacuated and hotel management is working to relocate approximately 25 guests to other properties.

Fairfax County and Arlington County Fire Departments assisted in the fire.
