Woman dies after being pulled from Potomac River

Police say the woman died from her injuries on Sunday

WASHINGTON — A woman has died at the hospital after being pulled from the frigid waters of the Potomac River on Saturday night. First responders are still trying to figure out how the woman ended up in the water. 

DC Fire and EMS responded to the 3000 block of Water Street Northwest for a report of a water rescue just before 8 p.m. Responding crews used a boat near the Georgetown Waterfront to get the woman out of the water. The woman, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital with injuries described as serious and life-threatening. On Sunday morning, authorities told WUSA9 the woman had died.

There's no word yet about how the woman ended up in the water. No additional details have been made public.
