Drivers wanted for damaging traffic camera in Southeast, DC

Police are searching for a driver who damaged a traffic camera in Southeast, D.C. last Thursday.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) — Police are searching for two drivers who damaged a traffic camera in Southeast, D.C.

The first vandalism incident happened Thursday in the 3700 block of Southern Avenue, Metropolitan police said. Crews responded to that location early that morning and saw that the traffic camera was inoperable due to damage.

A surveillance camera was able to capture the vehicle involved in the vandalism.

Police said another vandalism involving the same camera happened in the same place on April 12. A nearby surveillance camera was also able to capture this vehicle.

It is not clear at this time whether or not these two incidents are related.
