FAIRFAX, Va (WUSA) -Governor Sarah Palin made her first trip to Northern Virginia as the Republican Vice Presidential candidate today.
She and John McCain brought their message of 'government reform' to at least ten thousand people at Van Dyke Park in Fairfax.
Spectators streaming into the Fairfax park said they were coming to see HER... The first republican woman on a presidential ticket.
Sarah Palin did not disappoint.
"We're going to Washington to shake things up." She began by introducing her fisherman husband, and praising her running mate John McCain, then followed her convention speech closely, highlighting her reforms in Alaska.
She and John McCain pledged to get rid of wasteful government spending and earmarks.
"The first pork barrel project that comes across my desk, I will veto it, I will make them famous, we are going to fight this corruption,"said McCain.
A warm up speaker who got one of the biggest responses use to be a Hillary Clinton support. Now, she's voting for the Republicans because they put a woman on the ticket. That speaker also scolded Barack Obama for his remark about lipstick on a pig.
"Mr.Obama, calling girls names is something fifth grade boys do. I don't want a 4th grader running our country," said Lynnette Long.
The crowd loved all of it, bus especially that woman on the ticket.
"It's great, to show our daughter, she can be anything she wants to be," said Kris Nohe.
