WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- President Barack Obama is considered to be high-tech. But most White House staffers aren't allowed on Twitter.

Press Secretary Robert Gibbs spilled the beans on C-SPAN. The video is on YouTube.

"Twitter is blocked on White House computers," he said.

This is pretty surprising-especially because the White House has it's own Twitter account. So, who's making the updates?

According to the White House, select staffers have been granted access-including the office's New Media Team-which is in charge of the Twitter Account.

Why is it blocked for everyone else? It has to do with the Presidential Records Act. Every tweet has to be archived. It's not easy to do-so only certain people get access.

As for President Obama, the White House says he can use Twitter if he works with the New Media Team.
