At least five years of relevant work experience is required. Title: Multimedia Reporter – General Assignment

The reporter will be responsible for covering general assignment news and for developing news sources and original stories for distribution on air, the web, mobile sites or any other multimedia platform. This job requires a strong understanding of current events including local, national and international stories. Knowledge of the local Washington, DC market is a highly desirable plus. Position requires an understanding of multimedia presentation and software including video editing and posting on web sites. Knowledge of Avid editing system a plus.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to write well, to tell stories effectively, to cover breaking news and to communicate effectively in general and in live situations. This position requires proficiency in producing video packages in house or in the field on tight deadlines, producing copy and video stories for the web and mobile services and producing copy and material for special programs. Candidates must be available to work morning, dayside, evening or weekend shifts. Applicant must have at least 3 to 5 years experience as a television news reporter. A college degree is preferred. Must be a good writer and web content producer with solid news judgment who can produce smart newscast and / or multimedia content for our news shows, web sites or any other distribution platforms. Must be decisive and communicate well in the control room under intense pressure. The producer will be responsible for the full integration of graphics within the broadcast to enhance live interviews and packages as well as the rest of the broadcast. The producer will also be responsible for posting stories, photos and images to the web, preparing video for streaming on the web, gathering information and enterprising stories, contributing content for the various distribution platforms of W*USA9 and participating on a content team of choice or assignment. Candidate must be able to strategize and supply content to W*USA9 target audience. As a member of the News Broadcast Team, the producer will be required to contribute to the strategic planning for the assigned broadcast and content team(s). The producer will also contribute to the on air and web promotion for the assigned broadcasts and the News in general.
Candidate must exhibit high energy and stamina. Candidates should have thorough knowledge of local, national and international news. The producer will be required to bring a flexible and imaginative outlook to the table each day to create a broadcast that is stylistically modern and intellectually sophisticated.
