The Takoma Academy Chorale went to South Africa not knowing how they would impact the lives of others, and in return, be impacted themselves winning in three different categories; two silver medals in mixed youth and jazz, and the gold medal in spirituals. As part of the school's outreach initiative, the group visited the Orlando Children's home in Sowento where they fellowshipped with the kids and donated supplies. Plus, they visited the post-apartheid township of Diepsloot.
