WASHINGTON — All Charlottesville City Schools will be closed Thursday after police said they received an online threat against Charlottesville High School.

Police said they had not determined the credibility of the threat.

"An unidentified subject posted an image about an online threat directed towards the high school," police wrote in a release.

The person making the threat warned there would be an 'ethnic cleansing' and shooting at the high school.

The school system sent out an alert that said all city schools would close as a result of the message.

“Again, the safety of our staff and students is our first priority,” school system officials wrote. “Have a good night, and we’ll update you tomorrow as we learn more.”
