GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- In Montgomery County, dozens of people came together Monday night to hold hands and remember the victims of last week's shootings.

Police say Eulalio Tordil shot six people over the course of two days - killing three of them, including his estranged wife.

On Monday, the family of one victim, Malcom "Mike" Winffel, spoke in Gaithersburg about the man police are calling a hero.

Winffel's wife stood on the steps and made her first public statements since her husband's death.

"I have no regrets. Because I told my husband everyday how much I loved him. Every single day. And that day was no exception," said Norma Winfell, the victim's wife. "I only wish that I had him longer because he deserved more."

Norma lost her husband in a shooting in the parking lot of Montgomery Mall in Bethesda Friday afternoon.

But before all of the chaos, Winfell spoke to his wife.

"I had just come out of a training session for active shooters, ironically. Five minutes after that I wanted to call to tell him how much I had learned," said Norma.

Police say Winffel died because he stepped in and tried to help a woman allegedly shot by Eulalio Tordil.

At the vigil, every member of Winffel's family all wore shirts with the symbols of superheroes on the front.

"I just want the world to remember, what we already know, what a superhero my Michael was," said Norma.

"There are no words to express our loss. There's nothing I could say to tell you how deeply deeply sadden I am and how broken we are," said Norma.

A wife, a daughter, a son broken but not destroyed.

The vigil was hosted by the victims rights foundation. They're trying to raise money for the families of all 6 victims.
