UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA9) -- A teenager has been charged in connection with a stabbing that took place at a High School in Upper Marlboro Tuesday, according to Prince George's County Police.
The incident happened at Frederick Douglass High School around 7:40 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
A 16-year-old was found suffering from a stab wound when officers responded to the school, police said. He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The suspect has been identified as a14-year-old student at the school. He was also transported to the hospital for minor injuries and faces charges as a juvenile, according to police.
The incident is believed to have stemmed from a previous fight between the two students, police said.
Saying that the incident was "not characteristic of the community at Frederick Douglass High School," Frederick Douglass principal Eddie Scott wrote in a letter to parents that the incident was quickly diffused by the school's security team.
