Fire, shooting at apartment building in NW, unclear if incidents are connected

Sunday afternoon, DC Police said they could not confirm if the two incidents were connected.

WASHINGTON -- DC Fire and EMS and DC Police responded to one apartment complex for two separate incidents just hours apart.

DC Police reported a shooting just after 1:30 Sunday morning in the 3200 block of Hiatt Place Northwest.

Police said an adult male suffered non life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. He is listed in critical condition.

Officials are searching for two black males between five-foot-ten and five-foot-eleven. Police said the males are tall, slim build and wearing gray sweatshirts.

Several hours later DC Fire and EMS were dispatched to the same location at 8:11 a.m. for a fire.

Fire PIO Vito Maggiolo said several residents were evaluated but no one was taken to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
