Police investigating reportedly naked body found in Alexandria creek

Officials responded to a call for a naked body found in a creek around 9:32 a.m.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Alexandria Police Department is conducting a death investigating after a body was found in a creek Tuesday morning.

Rescue crews were called at 9:22 a.m. on a report of a naked body under a bridge in Holmes Run.

Officers responded to the 1200 block of North Beauregard Street near North Morgan Street and found a male victim dead on arrival.

Officials said they were able to reach the victim easily because the creek in that area is shallow.

The victim has been identified as Jose Mendez Padilla, 49, of Alexandria.

The victim was taken to the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.
