LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — Many people across the DMV started their morning with some sort of flood impact, either with a closed road or debris washed onto the highway.
The inner loop of I-495 had lane closures on Saturday because of high water. That was the same for several Maryland roadways and ramps, because of either high water or debris in the road.
Anne Arundel County also had traffic lanes closed for high water. Both eastbound and westbound lanes and shoulders.
A few of those closures were in still effect Saturday evening.
In Virginia, VDOT’s website lists Rt. 691N at Valley Wood Rd. in Fairfax still closed for weather Saturday evening as well. Several other weather-related incidents were marked as cleared.
In Loudoun County, Shreve Mill Rd. was reopened after video showed water pouring over the roadway Saturday morning. It was closed for the majority of the day.
Once the water receded, debris and logs were left scattered across the roadway.
Officials with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said that it is a commonly flooded road.
However, that closure caught a lot of people by surprise.
“We’re supposed to be somewhere at noon, and I don’t know how we’re going to get there,” Sarah Lee said. “Hopefully my phone will redirect me.”
There were other flooded areas reported in Northern Virginia, most appeared to have cleared up by early Saturday afternoon.
“It’s disruptive, but it’s not going to kill me,” Jason Lowry said.
