National Cheese Fondue Day is observed annually on April 11. This cheesy favorite consists of a blend of cheeses, wine and seasoning.
Adding to the fun, it's served in a communal pot over a small portable stove. Bread is then dipped from long-stemmed forks into the cheese topping off the experience. Here's a simple 4-ingredient perfect for sharing any day!
Ingredients:
1 cup white wine
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 lb Jarlesberg cheese, grated
Directions:
- Bring the wine to a boil in a small saucepan.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium low heat. Add the flour and whisk for about 5 minutes to avoid sticking and burning.
- Add the wine to the flour/butter mixture. Continue whisking to ensure a smooth consistency. Slowly add the cheese and stir until completely melted.
- Transfer to a fondue pot (you can find one at Bed Bath & Beyond!). Keep warm over a low flame.
- Serve with whatever bread, veggies, or fruit you like. Enjoy!
