WASHINGTON -- Congrats, D.C. You hit 90 degrees for the first time this year.

That may not be a club you're excited about, but it's one of a string of 90 degree days that we'll get before the hot months of 2019 are over.

May 20 is a couple of days behind our average first 90 degree day of the year of May 18. Last year we had our first 90 degree day earlier in May. The earliest ever 90 degree day is March 20, 1907. The latest a 90 degree day has ever occurred in D.C. was July 12, 1979.

How many more days to expect this year? A lot. On average, D.C. has 36 days at or above 90 degrees. The last 4 years in a row we've had well above-average 90-degree days:

2018 - 42 days
2017 - 43 days
2016 - 58 days
2015 - 52 days
Average - 36 days
Record - 67 days (2010)

The dog days of summer are ahead! Make sure your AC is working. We're expecting highs flirting with 90 again part of Memorial Day Weekend.
