FORECAST DISCUSSION:

Clearing and colder tonight with lows in the 30s. Wednesday will be chilly with highs in the 40s. This colder air sets the stage for a strengthening nor'easter to impact the area Thursday and Thursday night. In the metro, we'll start with snow and a wintry mix in the morning before transitioning into a cold rain. More wintry weather is expected out west. This should be mostly a rain event for areas east of I 95.

Tonight: Clearing skies, breezy and colder. Lows: 30 - 36. Winds: NW 10 - 15

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and cold. Highs: 44 - 49. Winds: NW/NE - 10.

EXTENDED OUTLOOK:

The nor'easter exits the area Friday morning. Dry weather returns for the weekend but it will overall be a cool but pleasant weekend. The forecast will be pleasant for Washington's game at Fedex Field on Sunday afternoon with highs in the 50s. You can watch that game on WUSA 9.

Friday: Lingering AM Rain showers, few flakes mixing in for the metro. Light rain/snow showers in the mountains. Highs: 48 - 53.

Saturday: Partly cloudy, breezy and cool. Highs: 50 - 55.

Sunday: Partly cloudy, chilly. Highs: 52 - 57.
