TIMELINE: Rain in DC Metro, wintry mix north and west

Areas north and west of DC will see a wintry mix before a change over to all rain.

WASHINGTON — Today is going to be a wet day with rain in D.C. Metro and a wintry mix north and west of town. Snow will continue for areas along and west of I-81 until temperatures climb above freezing throughout the afternoon and switch over to rain.

Here is a detailed timeline of when the weather will move in.  

Now - 2 p.m. -  Areas that were seeing a wintry  mix will gradually change over to rain.  Rain for Metro D.C. Heavy at times this afternoon. 

2 p.m. - 6 p.m. - Rain during the afternoon and evening. 

6 p.m. - 11 p.m. - Rain continues and gradually starts to end at around 11 p.m.  

11 p.m. - 2 a.m.  Rain ends across the region completely by 2 a.m. 

Where snow has fallen, it's piled on quickly!
