FORECAST DISCUSSION

A heat wave settles in to D.C., Maryland and Virginia this week. Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 90s with minimal storm chances. These high temps are not quite to the records -- which run in the upper 90s to low 100s through the weekend, but it will be our longest heat wave of the year so far.

Highs Wednesday will reach the upper 80s and low 90s. It will be hot but not humid with dew points staying in the upper 50s to low 60s. A stray PM shower/storm is possible northwest of the metro, but most stay dry.
