FORECAST DISCUSSION
Not quite as hot Thursday, but just as humid with highs in the low 90s with another chance of afternoon showers and storms. Even with lower temps Thursday the heat index will still top out at or just above 100 degrees.

Dangerous heat arrives Friday and lasts through the weekend. Highs will be in the upper 90s to lower 100s but it will feel like the temperatures are around 110 degrees Friday through Sunday. This could potentially be our hottest stretch in 3 years. We have issued a Red Weather Alert for Friday, Saturday and Sunday for life threatening heat.

With several days of prolonged heat and overnight lows potentially not getting below 80 degrees in D.C. and some other areas, this type of heat can have some serious health risks for those without access to air conditioning.
