Wednesday Night -- Mixing Finally Gives Way To Cold Rain

The warm air will win the battle tonight with the mix north and west changing to all rain overnight. Temps will remain steady or rise overnight to above freezing.

Precipitation: Cold rain DC, S & E with the mix to rain well N & W
Accumulations: Light freezing rain accretion north and west of D.C.
Impacts: North of D.C. roads are still slick, south of D.C. they are wet.

Overnight: Rain and showers heavy at times, freezing rain lingers NW but turns to rain late. Low: Steady/Rising.
Thursday: AM showers, partly cloudy, breezy and milder. High: 53.
Thursday Night: Partly to mostly cloudy and cold. Low: 38
Friday: Mostly cloudy and chilly with some showers mainly south of D.C. High: 49.

FORECAST DISCUSSION:
The snow has ended with a general 2 to 5 inches across the D.C. metro. Southern Maryland saw an inch or 2 with as many as 7.5 inches around Cumberland and 8 inches near Winchester. Cold rain overnight with some freezing rain lasting after midnight along the Maryland-Pennsylvania border. Temperatures rise overnight with most areas seeing all rain, some locally heavy.

Showers could linger early Thursday morning, mostly southeast of D.C. on the tail end of a winter storm system. By Thursday afternoon, we dry out and some sunshine returns for a rather pleasant afternoon despite a breeze.  Friday will see some showers south of D.C. but the clouds will keep temperatures in the upper 40s to lower 50s.

Friday: Mostly cloudy and chilly with some showers mainly south of D.C. Highs: 45 - 50. Winds: Light

EXTENDED FORECAST :

Saturday looks nasty...it will be cloudy with periods of light rain, shower and drizzle and highs in the low and mid 40s. Sunday looks warmer in the 60s, but there will be more showers around in the morning followed by some sun in the afternoon.
