Here's the growing list of closings and early releases

The Federal Employees Federal Offices in DC closes early due to expected inclement weather on Tuesday afternoon.

WASHINGTON — The first snowfall of the year prompted several closings and early dismissals in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia on Tuesday.

A winter storm is expected to bring snow and some rain in parts of the D.C. metro, Northern Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia on Tuesday afternoon.

The critical timing is between noon. to 7 p.m.

The decision to close or delay may be because the snowfall corresponds with the time people get off work in the afternoon and it's during some after-school activities and sports practices.
