WASHINGTON — As the week comes to a close, here are a few things to check out to make your off days worthwhile! From roasting snacks over the fire during the full moon to pairing wine with painting and dessert... there is so much to do with so little time!

Wine & Watercolors with Shop Made in DC

Get your artistic juices flowing along with the wine at this creative workshop. Each participant is welcome to enjoy two glasses of wine with their admission ticket while whipping up their own watercolor art.

"This DIY event is self-guided and a ticket gets you a seat at the table, two prints to paint, and access to shared supplies!" according to organizers.

Live, on the Hill: Free Jazz Concert Events

Hosted By the Capitol Hill Jazz Foundation Barracks Row Main Street, this free live jazz concert happens every Friday night and invites you to kick off the weekend with some beautiful tunes.

SausageFest at Wunder Garten

  • Saturday, Aug. 13 and Sunday, Aug. 14 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Wunder Garten - what organizers call D.C.’s most authentic German-themed beer garden in NoMa -  is continuing its annual summer festival! 

Featuring a wide variety of sausages with a host of sides, SausageFest also plans to spotlight local DMV breweries and showcase live performances all weekend long.

Georgetown Waterfront Yoga and Vegan Snacks

"Bring your yoga mat and lots of smiles!" This series of events welcome locals and visitors alike to come try out different styles of yoga each week.

"Meet Kyra at the Waterfront - get ready to breathe, move, and create summer joy, love, peace and freedom within yourself." Plus, vegan snacks and beverages will be served after your workout is finished!

Another fun event in D.C. taking place throughout August: A Midsummer Night's Dream comes to the National Building Museum. Watch below.

Dance & Wine Salsa Date Night Class

  • Friday, Aug. 12 from 7:40 p.m. through 8:40 p.m.

Organizers share that this date night class for beginner couples will begin with a warm-up followed by an easy breakdown of some fun Salsa moves. 

"After that, you will put all moves together in a dance pattern that you will practice together with your partner. Enjoy a free glass of wine with your class," the event description reads. 

"We can't wait to see you!"

Full Moon Fridays

  • Friday, Aug. 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Admission: $8

Organizers invite visitors to join them for the magic of the full moon this Friday. There will be a hike and campfire, where those attending are welcome to bring their own hot dogs or food to warm over the fire, while admission comes with marshmallows.

Silver Spring International Food & Craft Fair

  • Sunday, Aug. 14 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Silver Spring Veterans Plaza, 1 Veterans Place, Silver Spring, MD 20910
  • Admission: Free

It's a celebration of the nations in Silver Spring! Everything from food to crafts and music will be featured at this special fest. 

"Over 60 artisans and crafters, independent consultants and small businesses are coming together for the day, while our DJ will play a selection of international music for everyone's enjoyment," organizers said.

73rd Annual Prince William County Fair

  • Friday, Aug. 12 through Aug. 20, 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

"The Prince William County Fair returns for its 73rd year!" Organizers share, adding that it's been a family tradition since 1949. 

"Virginia’s largest and most popular fair is right here in Northern Virginia. There is no shortage of great things to do and see – whether you are young or old – or someplace in between."

!Viva Cultura! Festival

  • Saturday, Aug. 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Gateway Park, 1300 Langston Blvd Arlington, VA 22209
  • Admission: Free

¡Viva Cultura! Festival celebrates the Latino community's history and culture through live music, folk dance, art, and international street foods from Central and South America and the Caribbean, according to organizers.

"Folk dancers representing Peru, Mexico, Bolivia, Puerto Rico, and Honduras in traditional dress will mesmerize crowds. Artisans from Central and South America and the Caribbean will be on-site displaying a variety of one-of-a-kind hand-crafted items. There will also be plenty of kid-friendly activities, including face painting, clowns, balloons, sack races, musical chairs, and more."

Lake Anne Cardboard Boat Regatta

  • Saturday, Aug. 13 at 2 p.m.
  • Reston Museum, 1639 Washington Plaza, Reston, VA  20190
  • Admission: Free

This unique event displays the creativity of your neighbors like never before! That's right, the Lake Anne Cardboard Boat Regatta is back.

"Teams will race life-sized cardboard boats on Lake Anne in timed heats. Join the fun!" the event description reads. The event is designed to foster Reston pride and celebrate the family-friendly atmosphere of the historic Lake Anne Plaza.

Spectators can grab food at restaurants on the plaza and watch the race -- plus, enjoy the Reston museum for free!

Alexandria Summer Sidewalk Sale

Get your shopping fix in Alexandria this weekend at what organizers call one of the largest-running seasonal summer shopping events throughout Old Town and beyond.

How to Pair Dessert & Wine

If you're a dessert or wine lover - or, better yet, both! this event was made just for you. Enjoy an afternoon at the Little Washington Winery snacking on sweets and sipping the vino they pair best with.

"Is it possible to pair desserts with our favorite mainstream wines? Better be careful, some of these flavors are in definite conflict … but it can be done," say organizers. "Come try desserts and wines and learn why some do and some don't go well together."
