Here are the expected road closures in DC during President Trump's meeting with Turkish President Recep Tyyip Erdogan

The two officials are set to meet tomorrow, Nov. 13. The last time the two leaders met in D.C., a peaceful demonstration turned violent.

WASHINGTON — Those who live or work near downtown D.C. should brace themselves for road closures and traffic delays, in lieu of  President Trump's visit with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday.

Here are the streets that will be closed on Wednesday until 10 p.m.:

  • F Street between 15th Street and 14th Street NW
  • Pennsylvania Avenue between 15th Street and 14th Street NW. If you are entering from hotels, traffic will have to enter at 15th Street NW.

Here are the streets with emergency no parking restrictions until Wednesday at 10 p.m.:

  • F Street between 15th Street and a third of the way toward 13th Street NW
  • Pennsylvania Avenue between 15th Street and 14th Street NW
  • The west curb lane of 14th Street between F Street and a third of the way toward G Street NW

District police encouraged commuters to use Metro and other alternative routes and also said to expect increased pedestrian presence and congestion.

Erdogan's last visit to D.C. in May of 2017 drew security hazards and violence after protestors and supporters clashed near Sheridan Circle. According to police, nine people were injured after Erdogan went to the home of the Turkish Ambassador at 23rd St. NW & Sheridan Circle. Fifteen Turkish security officials were later indicted for their involvement with the brawl.

"MPD, along with our federal partners, have coordinated for the Turkish President's planned trip and we plan to take every measure possible to ensure we do not experience conflicts that were seen during his last visit to D.C.," a D.C. police spokesperson said.
