WASHINGTON -- When the Washington Capitals announced that Barry Trotz would be resigning as their head coach after just winning the Stanley Cup, fans jumped to twitter with their predictions.
Some expected the move and others were taken back by the announcement. The following tweet was tweeted by a reporter whose reaction was caught on camera in a senate hearing:
Before coming to Washington, Trotz coached the Nashville Predators in their first game of the franchise's first NHL game and served as the head coach for 17 years before being fired in 2014.
Yet, having never coached a team beyond the second round prior to the Caps Stanley Cup run, Trotz is still an attractive coach on the market for other franchises.
So now the big question comes into play, where will Trotz end up?
Fans on social media have their minds all made up, and with the New York Islanders being the only team in the league right now without a head coach, the buzz is that the Islanders and Trotz will be a match.
Although nothing has been confirmed yet on where Trotz will go next, one thing is for sure, we know that we won't be seeing him playing on the ice anytime soon.
