WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA9) — Thousands of people came out to the Capitals’ championship parade, but there’s no way they all had excused absences from work or school. WUSA9 went looking for the truants.
Along the parade route, in the sea of red, I spotted a few guys who stuck out like sore thumbs: their suits gave them away.
One said his boss gave him an hour break for the parade.
Then I talked to another employee who felt it’s better to beg forgiveness than ask permission.
“I just kind of snuck out,” he said. “I didn’t get the blessing of my boss, but how can he be upset with me? Right?”
Let’s hope so.
