Ice is ready as Caps begin title defense

WASHINGTON — It's time for the Caps to defend the Cup!

Thursday night, the Washington Capitals will begin their defense of their Stanley Cup championship when they face the Carolina Hurricanes in game 1 of their first round playoff series.

The ice at Capital One arena is ready to go.

The ice crew finished applying the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs logos ahead of the series opener.

The Capitals will host the Hurricanes Thursday and Saturday, before the series shifts to Raleigh for games 3 and 4.
