Redskins offensive lineman grew up in Northern VA

One of the Redskins newest offensive lineman is new to the team, but not to the area having played high school football at Centreville High School in Clifton, VA.

Ashburn, VA (WUSA 9) - Imagine getting the call to play in the NFL. It's great news for anyone, but when the call comes from the team you watched growing up it's even more special. That's the case for Luke Bowanko who was needed after all the injuries on the Redskins offensive line.

Luke Bowanko was called into action for the Washington Redskins the week of November 5. While he's new to the team, he's not new to the area, having grown up in Fairfax County and attending Centerville High School in Clifton, VA.

A quick search of Bowanko's Instagram page shows he's a guy who likes to have fun. He also has a lot of pictures of his Mom and his dog.

"Oh, MJ, she's a 2 year old German Shepherd almost and she definitely rules my life," Bowanko said. "She's smarter than me so half the time I can rely on her to get things done.'

He has several pictures wearing gear of DC area sports teams like the Nationals and Capitals.

"I love rooting for the home team," said the Redskins offensive lineman. "I was proud of the Caps when they got that win last year and I know this area was and I like to show my love."

Bowanko and his friends are really into costumes, as is evidenced by some of his throw back Thursday pictures. One of his favorites is them at Wrestlemania dressed up like wrestlers.
