(WUSA 9) - While the season hasn't started, the debate is ongoing among Redskin fans.

Who is the better quarterback? Alex Smith or Kirk Cousins?

The Redskins made the surprise trade for the 34-year-old veteran back in January, trading away cornerback Kendall Fuller and a 2018 3rd round pick.

The blockbuster trade signaled that after multiple seasons of uncertainty concerning Kirk Cousin's future, the Redskins had finally made a decision. A decision that was further re-enforced after they signed Smith to a 4-year, $94 million contract.

Cousins refusal to sign an extension with the team has left Redskins fans with a sour taste in their mouth, but thanks to the developers over at EA Sports, Skins fans have something to further cheer about before the season begins.

According to Madden 19, Alex Smith is officially better than Redskins former quarterback Kirk Cousins, at least in the video game realm.

Last season, Smith led the league with a 104.7 passer rating while in Kansas City. Meanwhile, Kirk Cousins wasn't able to crack the top 10 in that category, posting a passer rating of 93.9.

While Cousins threw one more touchdown (27) than Smith (26) last season, he also threw more than double the amount of interceptions (13) as Smith (5).

The Redskins will kickoff training camp in Richmond, VA July 26. Be sure to check out the Redskins upgraded quarterback in Alex Smith.
