COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Bruno Fernando is not returning to Maryland.

Fernando announced Wednesday that he will forgo his final two years of college eligibility, and remain in the NBA draft.

Fernando posted a heartfelt message on social media thanking God, Maryland, and the fans.

"To all the fans, I want to tell you how much I love you," said Fernando in his social media post. "You've made such a big impact on my life on and off the basketball court. I will forever cherish every moment I had here and will proudly wear Maryland's colors wherever the big man above takes me next."

Bruno Fernando is hoping to become the first Angolan to play in the NBA.

If Fernando is taken in the first round, Maryland would become the only school to have a first round pick each of the last two years in both the NBA, and the NFL.
