Nationals players have a message for fans dealing with the winter weather

Anthony Rendon offered sympathy to Nats fans dealing with the winter weather, while Max Scherzer had a request for fans.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — While it’s a wintry mess up north, there’s nothing but warm weather and sunshine at Nationals Spring Training.

Temperatures in West Palm Beach, Florida have soared into the 80s the last couple days, while temperatures back home have struggled to make it into the 30s.

Our crew at Nationals Spring Training is glad to have ducked the winter, and the players aren’t complaining either.

“Keep your chin up, it’ll be over soon,” says third baseman Anthony Rendon to Nationals fans. “You can come see us down here.”

For Nationals ace Max Scherzer, he took the time to remind people that baseball season, and warmer weather, aren’t that far away.

“Summer’s coming,” says Scherzer. “I know it doesn’t seem like it, but we’re five weeks away from playing Opening Day baseball in DC. We’re going to be full tilt. The summer’s coming, we’re working hard down here, and we’re going to need all their support if we’re going to win this NL East.”

So, while it might be wet and cold in the DMV, just remember opening day for the Nationals is March 28.

Warmer weather, and good baseball will be here before you know it.
