Washington DC — When the Washington Capitals had a viewing party for fans Wednesday night, they couldn't have known there would be an unusual reunion between a fan and a former player.
But that's exactly what happened.
Peter Bondra played 14 seasons with the Caps, and is still an ambassador for the team today.
He was in Capital One Arena signing autographs when a young woman walked up and showed him a picture that was a blast from the past.
There was 6 year old Lauren with Peter the Great... 22 years earlier. She said she used to press up against the glass to watch him during practice.
They were reunited as fans flooded the arena to watch Game 7 on the jumbotron.
Looking at the photo, Bondra said he looked young in the picture and then thanked Lauren for being a great fan for a long time.
