MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. -- What is happening in a small room at the Montgomery County Board of Elections will have a big impact for years to come.
The almost four thousand provisional ballots will likely decide who will take the top seat in the county.
Volunteers and staff are counting almost four thousand absentee and four thousand provisional ballots.
This comes after a computer glitch at MVA's website and kiosks last year failed to process voter registration information.
This race couldn't be any closer.
After Primary Day, County Council member Marc Elrich was leading over businessman David Blair by less than 500 votes.
Absentee ballots closed that gap to less than 150 fifty.
Whoever wins this race is expected to win the general election and have the top seat in the county.
In Prince George's County, there are 33 votes separating the two Democratic candidates running for council seat for District 7.
Some unofficial results have already been posted on the Board of Elections website.

Officials expect the ballot counting to be completed by Sunday. However, those results will not be official. That's because Board of Elections needs to perform an audit and certify the results.
That's expected to happen on July 14.
