SPRINGFIELD, Va. — Fairfax County Police said one person is suffering life-threatening injuries and another with non life-threatening injuries after a shooting in Brookfield Plaza Saturday.

Officials responded to the 7000 block of Brookfield Plaza after reports of two people being shot.

An officer nearby heard the shots also requested medical help for the victim.

After preliminary investigation, police said a fight broke out inside of a business at Brookfield Plaza Shopping Center and after 11 p.m., the fight escalated then moved outside into the parking lot where shots were fired. One man was shot multiple times.

Once officers arrived to the scene, there were about 300 people in the parking lot area. Virginia State Police officers and officers from three nearby districts arrived on scene to control the chaotic scene and disperse the crowds.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. About 4:15 Sunday morning, a juvenile showed up to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.
