COLLEGE PARK, Md. — It's been less than a full month since Mike Locksley has been able to fully focus on his role as Maryland's head football coach, and he's already making a big splash.

Maryland landed 4-star rated quarterback Lance LeGendre on National Signing Day Wednesday.

The Terps beat out Florida State for his commitment.

When he announced his decision, he channeled LeBron James' decision back in 2010.

"This process has been wild and long," said LeGendre. "It's time to make a decision. For the next four to five years, I'm taking my talents to the University of Maryland."

LeGendre played his high school football at Warren Easton High School in New Orleans.

The quarterback helped lead the Eagles to a 12-3 record in his senior season.

Maryland moved quickly on LeGendre.

According to 247 Sports, the Terps offered the quarterback a scholarship on January 26. He took an official visit six days later in College Park.Five days after that, he committed to the University of Maryland.

In his national signing day press conference, Locksley told reporters he started recruiting LeGendre to come to College Park two weeks ago.

Locksley says he hopes the program is not finished with this year's recruiting class.

"This is an ongoing recruiting process for us," said Locksley. "We hope we're not done yet. There's a few slots left."
