A 16-year-old is dead after a hit-and-run in Virginia on Saturday night.
Around 5:40 p.n. Fairfax County Police arrived to South Lakes Drive and Castle Rock Square in Reston for reports of a pedestrian struck.
Upon arrival, officers located the the victim and pronounced him dead at the scene. Due to Virginia law, police are unable to publicly identify the teen without parental consent.
Officials said the teen was trying to cross the street when he was hit by the vehicle. Detectives are working to determine if the teen was using the crosswalk at the intersection where he was hit.
Police said a sedan is believed to be involved and have heavy front end damage. The vehicle is also believed to be gray or silver.
Eastbound South Lakes Drive near Castle Rock Square is still closed.
