School bus driver arrested for fatal crash in Va.

Police say the woman turned herself in on Friday.

HAYMARKET, Va. - A 57-year-old woman turned herself in after a man died in a crash with a Prince William County school bus on May 23, police said.

Investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to Old Carolina Road and Piedmont Vista Drive on Wednesday morning for an apparent crash between a Ford F-150XLT truck and a Prince William County school bus.

The truck, with an attached trailer, stopped in the right travel lane while one worker was at the rear of the pick-up truck to set up a sign. According to officials, the workers from the truck were about to mow and landscape a property nearby before the passenger school bus struck the man. He died on the scene.

No students were on the school bus at the time, officials said.

The victim was identified as 53-year-old Eusebio Castro of Aldie, Va. Castro was wearing a reflective safety vest.

The 62-year-old driver of the pickup truck, who was removed from the vehicle, also was injured.

Police obtained an arrest warrant on May 24 for school bus driver Sheri Paugh, of Front Royal, after determining she was at fault for the crash.

Paugh is charged with involuntary manslaughter. She is set to appear in court on August 14.
