FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — Police are still investigating after finding a body in the woods in North Hill Park in Fairfax County along Route One on May 23.
Fairfax County police said they got a tip that there could be human remains in the woods and started looking on May 22, then located the body on May 23.
Officials said the body was removed from the ground and taken to the medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death and identity of the victim.
Tuesday this week, police said the medical examiner still had not identified the victim, or determined a cause of death. Police said they were investigating the death as a homicide.

Tuesday, police did not specify any further details about the deceased. They still have not said if the body was an adult or what gender.
Previously, Fairfax County police said they believed the death was gang-related.
“There is a high probability that this is gang-related and I can assure our community that our great detectives will bring those responsible for this discovery to justice as we continue to pray for this person’s family and friends," Fairfax County Police Chief Edwin C. Roessler said last week.
Tuesday, police said in a release they expected the medical examiner's investigation to take up to a month. Detectives are still investigating.
