ALEXANDRIA, Va. — A barricade situation in Alexandria resulting from an attempted search warrant execution has ended with no injuries, according to Alexandria Police.
APD officers were dispatched to 4700 Kenmore Avenue near Seminary Road just after noon to execute a warrant Thursday. It is unclear what the warrant was for or what led to the barricade standoff afterward, but police said the suspect was potentially armed.
Around 3 p.m., police said the barricade had ended and the suspect was "taken into custody without incident."
Residents who had previously been asked to avoid the commercial areas nearby --which includes a shopping center, office space and several apartment complexes -- were given the green light to return to the area.
