20-year-old man shot after argument with man living below apartment party in Woodbridge

The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and is expected to live.

WOODBRIDGE, Va. -- A 20-year-old man was shot after getting into an altercation with the occupant living in the apartment below a party he was attending in Woodbridge on Saturday.

Police responded to the shooting at Landings at Markhams Grant Apartments in the 15700 block of Tassia Lane in Woodbridge at around 9:48 p.m. The victim got into a verbal altercation with 69-year-old David Alvin Tynes, who was living in the apartment below the party.

At one point, police say, the victim went down to Tynes’ apartment and pounded on the door before his friends convinced him to return to the party.

It was then that Tynes allegedly approached the victim and shot him once in the lower body. He then told a family member to call the police.

When police arrived, they say Tynes briefly refused to exit his apartment before coming out and being arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding.

The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries and is expected to live.
