SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. -- One man is dead after a single-engine aircraft he was piloting on Friday morning crashed in Spotsylvania County.
Virginia State Police say the crash happened at around 7:40 a.m. after taking off from Shannon Airport. It banked to the left and was caught by the wind, causing it to crash into the ground.
Leonardo Ospina Villada, the pilot and only occupant of the plane, was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries.
The FAA and NTSB are also investigating the crash.
