Verizon Wireless outage affecting regional 911 service resolved

Verizon Wireless is no longer experiencing an outage affecting 911 calls. The issue has been resolved.

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Verizon Wireless is no longer experiencing an outage affecting 911 calls. The issue has been resolved.

The issue started early Thursday morning and lasted through late morning. Verizon said the issue has been resolved and service is back for Arlington County, Alexandria, Fairfax County, Loudoun County and Prince William County.

Verizon Wireless is experiencing an outage affecting 9-1-1 and ten digit dialing. Fairfax County residents can text 9-1-1 from a Verizon phone as an alternate.

Due to regional outage, calls/texts from Verizon Wireless phones may not reach 911 centers or police non-emergency numbers (703.746.4444 in Alexandria). To report an emergency, use a landline or another wireless provider to call/text 911. We will advise when outage is resolved.
