VIRGINIA

  • Alexandria
    • Fireworks banned and are punishable by a $2,500 fine and up to 12 months in prison.
  • Arlington
    • Fireworks that go up high in the sky are illegal, ones that reach the max high of 12 ft. are okay.
    • Illegal fireworks hold a maximum fine of $2,500
    • Sparklers are allowed.
  • Fairfax
    • Fireworks that go up high in the sky are illegal, ones that reach the max high of 12 ft. are okay.
    • Sparklers are allowed.
  • Loudoun
    • Fireworks that rise into the air and explode are illegal
    • Sparklers and ground-based fountains are okay

MARYLAND

  • Montgomery
    • Both fireworks and sparklers are banned and carry a $500 fine
    • Selling fireworks is illegal and carries a $1000 fine
  • Prince George's
    • Both fireworks and sparklers are banned
    • Violation of this law carries up $1,000 in fines and 6 months in jail

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA

  • No fireworks, firecrackers or explosives like cherry bombs or Roman candles
  • Sparklers are permitted up to 20 inches in length
