University of Maryland building evacuated due to lab experiment fire

The incident happened at the Chemical and Nuclear Engineering Building, police are asking people to avoid the area

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The University of Maryland's Chemical and Nuclear Engineering Building was evacuated Wednesday morning due to a fire. 

A lab experiment and a chemical reaction caught on fire, according to UMD Police Department. 

Police are asking people to avoid the area. 

Prince George's County Fire and Emergency Medical Services also responded to the scene and said there were no injuries reported.
