SILVER SPRING, Md. -- Two southbound lanes are currently closed due to a 10-inch main break at the intersection of Georgia Ave. and Connecticut Ave. in Silver Spring Monday morning.

WSSC said the water main break split several feet. Repairs are time consuming and complicated due to the length of the split on the pipe and concrete duct bank near the pipes.

One lane is getting by in the area, however officials are advising drivers to find alternate routes if possible.

The water main break issues were reported on Sunday and were impacting about 300 customers. The repairs to the main break continued overnight and into the morning.
