ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) – A licensed daycare worker has been arrested and charged in the death of a six-month-old girl, Montgomery County police said.

Kia Divband, 35, has been charged with second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree child abuse.

On April 19, Divband told police that he was feeding six-month-old Miller “Millie” Lilliston when she started choking and vomiting. After cleaning her face, he told police he noticed that she was unresponsive and that her lips had turned blue. That’s when Divband said he called for help and started doing CPR on her.

Millie was rushed to the hospital after emergency crews arrived at the Little Dreamers daycare, police said.

According to police, doctors discovered that she had multiple injuries including hematomas in her head, rib fractures, and multiple bruises on her face and body. Millie was then flown to a second hospital where officials found more injuries including retinal hemorrhages, a fractured femur, and a fractured humerus.

According to medical reports, all of her injuries were not accidental.

After a search of Divband’s daycare, police found blood in multiple locations, including Millie’s stroller. They also found blood on baby wipes in the trash.

Millie died three days after the incident.

Divband is currently being held on $2,000,000 bond.

Tuesday officials conducted an emergency inspection of the daycare and the owner voluntarily gave up their license.
