11-year-old boy charged with calling in threat to Rockville school

A school faculty member said someone called the building and made a general threat against Parkland Middle School students.

ROCKVILLE, Md. - An 11-year-old boy has been charged with calling in a threat to Parkland Middle School in Rockville.

Montgomery County Police officers responded to the school at 12:34 p.m. Friday for a report of a threat. A school faculty member said someone called the building and made a general threat against Parkland Middle School students.

The investigation led police to an 11-year-old boy who is not a student at the school. He has been charged with one count of disrupting school activities and one count of making a threat of mass violence.

The boy is back in the custody of his parents. The Department of Juvenile Services is handling the case.
