Police search for suspect in Germantown grocery store assault

The assault reportedly happened after a traffic altercation in the store’s parking lot

GERMANTOWN, Md. —

Montgomery County police are searching for a man accused of assaulting someone inside a Shoppers grocery store after a traffic altercation. Police released surveillance photos of the suspect and are asking the public’s help to identify him. 

Police said the incident happened around 6 p.m. on March 18 at the Shoppers in the 18000 block of Mateny Road. The 21-year-old victim told police he was driving in the store parking lot when he began arguing with the driver of a gold Lincoln MKZ.

The man told police he then parked his car and went inside the store where he was confronted by the male suspect. The victim said the suspect mentioned the traffic altercation in the parking lot, assaulted the victim and then fled the store. Emergency officials responded to the store and transported him to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.
