LANHAM, Md. — A 35-year-old man is facing rape and assault charges after police say he threatened a woman with a gun, forced her into a car and sexually assaulted her in Lanham.

Prince George's County police were called to a local hospital around 8:30 p.m. Monday for the report of a sexual assault.

A woman told police she was walking near Cipriano Road and Tuckerman Street around 4:00 a.m. Monday when an unknown man approached her, threatened her with a gun and forced her into his car.

The suspect, later identified as Kalvine McGee, then drove to a nearby parking lot where the woman told police he raped her.

Authorities said McGee and the woman do not know each other.

McGee admitted his involvement in the attack and is now being charged with first-degree rape, first and second-degree assault and other related charges, according to police.

McGee is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

This is the only reported crime of this nature in the area, authorities said.
