Sheriff's Office in Virginia hosts father-daughter dance for incarcerated dads

Eight inmates and their daughters played games, listened to music, and even had a sit-down dinner together.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — There's nothing like the bond between a father and a daughter.

That bond can be hard to secure when a dad is in jail for Father's Day.

The Portsmouth Sheriff's Office and Men Alleviating Negativity foundation tried to break that barrier with a father-daughter dance Saturday.

Eight inmates and their daughters played games, listened to music, and even had a sit-down dinner together.

The Portsmouth Sheriff's Office and the foundation partnered up to make it happen.

The groups said this helps to build positive relationships, even when family members are behind bars.

They believe this helps inmates once they get out of jail.
